  • Introduction to Season of Creation: 
    September 1st begins our Season of Creation when people around the world will be praying for and working in a special way on behalf of Mother Earth, our common home.  This year’s theme is:  Walking Together—Sowing Hope for the Planet.  Please check the Wheaton Franciscan facebook page for inspirational postings throughout this season (Sept 1-Oct 4—the feast of St Francis, patron on those who work for ecology and the environment).  


    Introduction to World Day of Prayer for Creation: 
    Pope Francis has designated September 1 as the ​World Day of Prayer for th​e Care of Creation. Join Pope Francis and Christians around the globe in praying for and taking action for our common home on September 1 and the Season of Creation, September 1-October 4 by visiting www.SeasonofCreation.org​.

    Taizé Prayer Service: 
    Friday, September 7, 2018 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM 

    Film: 
    Sunday, September 9, 2018 following the Liturgy there will be a Season of Creation film. More information to come.


    Dedication of Cosmic Walk: 
    Sunday, September 30, 2018, following the Liturgy (11:00 PM) there will be a Dedication of The Cosmic Walk. The walk is a permanent weather resistant display located on the Wheaton Franciscan campus surrounding the new butterfly garden near the parking lot for entrance #5. The paved path includes 25 posts with images of the watercolor prints. Sister Corlita Bonnarens, RSM, is the artist who captured in watercolor 25 significant moments in this unfolding story of the universe, giving us a glimpse of the Sacred Mystery that has been at work for more than 14 billion years

  • The Vatican's Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Decelopment, has produced a wonderful video about the conference. It beautifully captures the spirit of solidarity and hope that was present, featuring the next steps for the road ahead. #LaudatoSi18

  • On March 24th there will be a young people’s march in Washington DC to demand an end to gun violence in our country.  At the same time, there will be marches all over the country calling for an end to gun violence and immediate legislative action to pass laws that ban semi-automatic assault weapons, bump stock attachments that turn rifles into the equivalent of machine guns, and high capacity ammunition magazines.

  • [Brooklyn, NY] The Franciscan Federation of the Sisters and Brothers of the Third Order Regular of the U.S., and their associates resolved "to stand in solidarity with Native American People in care of their land and of our Sister, Mother Earth" in a resolution affirmed by some 240 attendees representing 61 member confregations at their annual meeting, just ended.   • “The Wheaton Franciscan Sisters, St. Clare Province of the Franciscan Sisters, Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, (USA) are announcing today that we can say with integrity that we have no current investment in fossil fuels, and we will in the next year add it to our Socially Responsible Investment Policy to assure no future investments in fossil fuels. In this way, we wish to emphasize the urgency of the climate crisis and deepen our commitment to care for our common home.”
